A harness is an alternative to a collar and it should be used when you have a Yorkie or other small dog. Why harness? Yorkies are susceptible to tracheal collapse, when they are on a lead with collar they often choke. My harness is a bit too large and it needs customising. In this version of harness you put the legs of the dog through it and you do it up at the top of it (at the dog's back). Benefits of a harness include that they are safe for dogs prone to to medical conditions such as spinal or tracheal issues, they are very comfortable and appropriate for small dogs like Yorkshire Terriers. Also, when you see that your dog is in danger you can safely and quickly take it up by gently lifting it.
